When the cat's away ...

As the saying goes, when the cat's away, the mouse does play. As many of you know, I woke up to frozen pipes last Saturday morning, and as Dennis was in Florida at a conference, I was left to my own devices. So after several unpleasant trips to the crawl space to address said plumbing emergency, I emerged to discover another daunting situation.

I was able to stop him from chucking the last few books from his shelf. (It felt like a big accomplishment at the time.)

So after a LOOONG time-out, and a bit of sorting and reshelving, we got things straightened away again -- and got the water flowing. What a day!

And he looks so innocent ... who would ever imagine?

Winter Wonderland in NC? It's true!

We've had our first official snow day in Greenville. All schools including ECU were shut down today and probably for tomorrow as well. Rumor has it that Greenville does possess snow removal equipment, but my bet is that Mother Nature will have a hand in it before city services gets here.
David LOVED the snow until he actually went out in it. Whenever he did manage to cross the threshold from the garage to the outdoors, he screamed at the blowing snow, "Stop tickling me! Stop hurting me!" Of course after NOT playing in the snow for a while, we took him back inside at which time he proceeded to complain that he didn't get to make any snowmen or snow angels. Hmph... what you gonna do?
But I must admit that I share my son's love/hate relationship with the cold white fluff.
